Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement of Man and a Van Finchley
Man and a Van Finchley is committed to conducting its business ethically and with integrity. This Modern Slavery Statement explains the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers who work with or on behalf of Man and a Van Finchley.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, or exploitation. This policy underpins all our commercial decisions, day-to-day operations, and relationships with third parties. We will not knowingly engage with any individual or organisation involved in practices that are inconsistent with our standards and legal obligations.
All employees and contractors of Man and a Van Finchley are required to act in line with this policy. Any breach is treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in termination of employment or contract, as well as reporting the matter to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Finchley provides transport, removals, and related services. Our supply chains mainly include vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging suppliers, office support services, and occasional subcontracted drivers or removal support teams.
While our business is relatively small, we recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at any level of the supply chain. We are committed to identifying and minimising these risks through proactive and proportionate measures.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold high standards of labour practice and to comply with relevant employment, health and safety, and human rights laws. As part of our onboarding and ongoing relationships, we seek assurances that suppliers do not engage in modern slavery or exploitative practices.
Where proportionate to the size and risk profile of the supplier, we conduct checks and informal audits. These may include requesting written confirmations of compliance, reviewing publicly available information about the supplier, and holding discussions about labour practices, recruitment, and worker protections. If we identify concerns, we may request corrective actions, conduct further due diligence, or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Man and a Van Finchley encourages all staff, subcontractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or exploitation, whether within our own operations or anywhere in our supply chains. Reports can be made directly to management in person or in writing, and all concerns will be treated seriously and handled as confidentially as possible.
We will investigate reports promptly and take appropriate action, which may include engaging with the supplier, suspending or ending relationships, and reporting suspected criminal activity to the relevant authorities. No one will suffer any retaliation for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not ultimately substantiated.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our team. New starters are made aware of our zero-tolerance policy and expectations regarding ethical conduct and supplier interaction. Where appropriate, we provide further guidance to staff involved in procurement, supplier management, and recruitment to help them recognise warning signs and respond correctly.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by the management of Man and a Van Finchley. The review considers any incidents, supplier feedback, changes in legislation, and best practice guidance. Following each review, we may update our policies, contractual terms, due diligence processes, and training materials to strengthen our approach.
Through regular review and continuous improvement, Man and a Van Finchley aims to ensure that our operations and supply chains remain aligned with our values and legal responsibilities, and that we play our part in combating modern slavery and human trafficking.
